FIFA PLACES TRANSFER WINDOW BAN ON PHAR RANGERS

FIFA has banned Ghanaian lower league club Phar Rangers FC for failing to comply with a decision of FIFA’s Player Status Committee.

In the decision, the now Eastern Regional Third Division side was ordered by FIFA to made payment of Thousands of Dollars to a foreign club that the Ghanaian club owes or face sanctions from the world football governing body.

The Ghanaian lower tier side has however failed to comply with FIFA’s decision. Phar Rangers FC initially made an appeal to the CAS but has since withdrawn their appeal and has also failed to obey the decision.

Following a request by lawyers of the foreign club for harsher sanctions to be imposed on Phar Rangers FC, FIFA, has announced that Phar Rangers FC shall initially be banned from participating in the next Transfer Window which starts on February 1, 2022.

Should Phar Rangers FC still fail to make a good their indebtedness, FIFA may impose further sanctions.

In light of the foregoing, the said Transfer Window ban shall remain up until the due amount is paid, FIFA reiterated in a letter to both parties and to the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The GFA is tasked to ensure that Phar Rangers FC does not trade any player during the banned period.

The GFA consequently wishes to inform all clubs and stakeholders in order to ensure strict adherence to the FIFA ban and directive.

The GFA will update members and stakeholders if the current status changes.

FIFA SUSPEND IVORY COAST GOALKEEPER AHEAD OF THE 2021 AFCON

Ivory Coast goalkeeper Sylvain Gbohouo has been suspended by football’s world governing body Fifa for an alleged doping violation.

The 33-year-old had been expected to be first choice for his country at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, with the Elephants facing Equatorial Guinea in their first game on Wednesday.

National team coach Patrice Beaumelle was notified on 26 December that Gbohouo had tested positive for trimetazidine, a heart medication that the World Anti-Doping Agency categorises as a stimulant.

Gbohouo had been named in Ivory Coast’s squad for the tournament three days earlier and was subsequently provisionally suspended.

His ban has now been confirmed by Fifa and Gbohouo, who plays his club football in Ethiopia for Wolkite City, has appealed against the ruling.

“We had hope of getting a favourable response from Fifa but yesterday I learned that they were upholding their decision,” Beaumelle said.

Beaumelle added that the player, who was part of the 2015 Nations Cup-winning squad, was training alone, had lost weight and “is not sleeping”.

BLACK STARS LACKED URGENCY: ASAMOAH GYAN

The four times African champions lost their opening Group C game to the Atlas Lions, after a late Sofiane Boufal strike sunk Ghana at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in Cameroon.

Gyan, who missed the tournament for the first time since 2008, gave razor-sharp analysis on his punditry debut.

“There was no urgency from the Black Stars. We wanted to catch the Moroccans on counterattack. I was expecting Issahaku to come on but it was late and it affected us. In games like this, you need to take your chances and win the game,” he said on SuperSport.

“If you create the chances and fail to convert them, the fans will not be happy,” added the Ghanaian forward.

Asamoah Gyan is yet to hanged his boots even though he has been inactive for almost a year.

The Black Stars next face Gabon on Friday, January 14, 2022.

MAURITANIA DREAM

Mauritania 🇲🇷 are attending their second Afcon in a row. In 2012, they were the poorest football nation in the world, ranked 206. They were banned for inability to raise a team for 2012 Afcon qualifies.

Between 1995 and 2003, Mauritania played in just 33 competitive games and didn’t win a single match. Even worse, between 2009 and 2011, they played a single football match and that was vs Palestinia. They didn’t win. By 2012, the whole football system was in complete mess.

Then they began a complete revolution that started from infrastructural development and grassroot footbal. They started the construction of a National Football HQ that had a 10k stadium, camping base for U12, U15, U17. A National selection of young players from across the country.

The five year development plan included massive investment in domestic and women’s football. Cluns were properly structured and handed buses. All clubs set up Youth sides. The FFRIM has Women’s Teams across all divisions and Clubs started winning in the CAF Competitions.

The five year plan culminated in the National Team qualifying for their first Afcon in 2019. But before that, two successive qualifications in the CHAN, a tournament reserved domestic players. From not winning a game to beating South Africa & qualifying over Burkina Faso in 2019.

Before 2012, qualifying for the Afcon seemed an illusion. It was very difficult to see anyone wearing a National team shirt anywhere. Today, the FFRIM has shops in the country and Mauritania shirts are some of the fastest selling products generating income for the FA.

In Cameroon, Mauritania will be making their second Afcon. They’ll boast of the youngest player of the tournament. 16yo Lekweiry is a product of the U12 team from 2017. He played in the U20 Arab Cup and making the Afcon. Most of this, down to their pragmatic FA Boss.

COACH KANDUMAH JOHN: PRESEASON IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM POST OR OFF SEASON!!!

Coach Kandumah John

Pre-season/Preparation
Preseason includes all the activities that usually precedes the football season, it includes the recruitment of Technical staff and players, Physical, Psychogical, Technical and Tactical Preparation of the team as well as playing of preparatory matches to assess some individual players, groups, the team and experiment some new tactics.

Its activities are largely influenced by your ambitions. A good preseason does not mean winning preseason matches, it means recruiting the right technical staff and players and how the techinical team improves each player and the team. If you do proper Technical and Player recruitment you are 85% successful in preseason. We have seen clubs with flourishing results during preseason who tumbled during the league whilst clubs who also had poor run of results at preseason winning doubles and trebles in the season. So don’t judge your team by preseason results.

Clubs that aren’t able to have the six weeks required preseason mostly resort to “ECONOMIC” training during the season either than that you would breakdown your players during Competition or inseason.

Post or off-season
This is a time of suspended or reduced activity especially the time during which a players do not train nor compete. Players are supposed to have a minimum of six weeks and maximum of ten weeks rest after the season, studies have shown that players who train or compete all year round retire from football earlier than those who observe rest during off season.

Clubs are also supposed to use this session to do an introspection of the just ended season, this introspection should be done on thematic areas like
√ Technical assessment on players and Technical staff for the just ended season.
√ Training equipment and logistics whether they were adequate or inadequate?
√ Financial in – Flow and out – Flow
√ Budget for the next season.
Let’s get the distinctions and plan properly towards the next Upper West Division Two Season.

HOW EXACTLY DO YOU BECOME A PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL? TO UPPER WEST REGION’S FOOTBALLERS.

Being a professional footballer is the dream job for many and it’s easy to see why. After all, it offers one the chance to become a millionaire by playing a game they love.

Not only that, but those who excel in the sport are, more often than not, revered and their legacies resonate for years, decades even.

However, it is an incredibly competitive industry, which demands dedication, consistency and sacrifice.

Dedication, Consistency, and Sacrifice, are key words to Footballers, especially, those within our part of the world, Wa Upper West Region, Ghana.

Late 90s and early 2000s were days Footballers in the region were play the game for passion, love and its beauty. Players were eager to devote their everything for the beauty of the game and were not getting the plorific opportunities players of today are getting. They were ready to roam the world anytime they get the chance.

They dedicated and sacrificed their time and everything just to see themselves at the higher level.

Today, in the region, the then players are much different from modern players. So sad to say this, but a big truth. Few among a lot sacrificed much of their time for the game and are consistent as well as pray to reach the pinnacle of their game.

It is imperative for a player to have what will take him travel the world over for the beautiful game.

Also, aspiring footballers must be willing to put in the work and that means applying themselves diligently to their craft, showing up on time to training, sometimes staying longer to hone the weaker parts of their game.

Again, a footballer needs to keep working hard. Once you eventually become a professional footballer, the hard work doesn’t stop. It’s crucial that you do not take your eye off the proverbial ball. Keep working hard, keep looking after your body and enjoy it as much as you can.
