Tamale City FC topped the three teams playoff organized by the Ghana Football Association to find the replacement of Ashantigold SC in the Ghana Premier League after their demotion to third tier football, division two.
The Tamale bases club beat Liberty Professionals FC in their first game by a lone goal which put ahead of the other two teams.
Liberty Professionals FC also in their first game beat Ebusua Dwarfs FC by 3:1 and were hoping to find positive results against Tamale City. The Cape Coast based club did not win any game after drawing with Tamale City and losing to Liberty Professionals FC.
The Citizens have gained 4 points in two games which enabled them secure the outstanding slot.
They have become the 101 club that will compete in the top flight of Ghana.
After the Obuasi based club was found guilty of an allegation put against in a fix match scandal some months ago, the Ghana Football Association decided to have a playoff in order to replace the team in the Ghanaian Top Flight League. Second place teams in the last season’s National Division One League in all the zones were the teams to play against each other to gain the premier league slot.
On August 4, 2022, Liberty Professionals Football Club beat Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs Football Club in the first match of the two games each team is supposed to play by 3:1.
Today, August 6, 2022, Liberty Professionals FC had their second game against Tamale City FC and lost by lone goal which came on the 43′ minute of the game. This result gives the citizens the upper hand into the last game of the playoff which will be between Tamale City and Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs FC on Monday, August 8, 2022.
Tamale City Football Club just needed a point to enable them grasp the slot.

Upper West Regional Executives of Ghana Draught Association was inducted into office and are certified to join the National Executives of Ghana Draught Association to carry out the activities and propagation of Draught nationwide.
Draught is a board game for two players, played on a draughtboard. Each player starts with twelve disc-shaped pieces in three rows along one side of the board, and moves them diagonally with the aim of capturing all the opponent’s pieces.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the national Secretary Mr. Isaac Asare on behalf of the National President of the Ghana Draught Association, expressed his excitement for been part of the induction ceremony and indicated that, the national executives are ready to support the Upper West Draught Association in any form whenever there is a need.
He said, most people especially high profile personalities like to participate in Draught game but they don’t want to expose themselves because of the negative comments and indiscipline nature of the game whenever the game is played.
He indicated that, the significance of this association is to promote the welfare members and also to install discipline and sanity among the Draught playing body to prevent the rumors and unnecessary comments about the game.
He, however, entreated the executives to be united for the success of the association in the region and Ghana at large.
The Upper West Regional Director of the National Sports Authority Mr. Mumuni N. Bushran called on the newly sworn in executives in the Upper West Draught Association to work hard for the growth of the association.
He laments over the non-existence of some associations or unions under the National Sports Authority in the region while assuring the newly inducted association of the support of the National Sports Authorities.
The Chairman for the Upper West Draught Association, Mr. Conrad Nugzala on the behalf of his colleagues, thanks the National Executives for the inauguration and promised to collaborate with the members to work hard and promote the sports discipline.
He also lauded the traditional authorities in the Region particularly Wala traditional Council led by Wa Naa and stateholders across for their readiness to support them yo lift up the association in the region.

Wa Future Stars Sporting Club (Wa FC) led by the Honorable Siita, the Current and Acting TM paid a visit to the Upper West Regional Police Commander DCOP Peter Ndekugri in his office today, Friday, 13th May 2022.
The visit was to introduce the team, build a friendly relationship, and to seek security services for the ongoing Division Two league, especially on Match Days.
The DCOP in a sitting and after happily welcoming the team hinted that Grassroots Football has come alive in recent times all over the region and it’s being consumed by a very large number of followers however, the seek for higher security support is very important and it is a good step taken by the team hence, Greenlight has been given to the team anytime they need security.
DCOP Peter Ndekugri took the opportunity to congratulate the team for its performance in the league so far. He expressed the readiness of his office to combat all crimes and protect lives and properties at any corner of the Upper West Football.
He warned against interceders who come pleading with the Police to release hooligans whenever they are arrested at Football League Centers. He continued that, any offender will be sent to court for trial without delay.
He advised the team and everyone in the region to be law-abiding irrespective of status, tribe, or location to avoid facing the ugly side of the law. Finally, he encouraged all to seek justice from the police but never try to take the law into one’s own hands.
The team led by Hon.Siita was full of gratitude to the Regional Commander and his able men for the readiness to salvage football from miscreants who may want to mire the beauty of football in the region.
He ended that, running a football club is really a daunting task and that’s why his administration will continue to take positive steps to safeguard investment of all Club Owners under his jurisdiction.
Adding his voice, was the team’s PRO, Isaac Kanyiri (Bra Ike ), he thanked the Commander for accepting the team happily and assuring him that the team’s next visit would be accompanied by Good news, he added that everything said is accepted and would be considered in every dealing of the team. Bra Ike pledged to guide his boys go by the laws that would shape their future in football.
The Ghanaian-born Qatar and Duhail Sporting Club player let the cat out the bag in an interview with media general’s journalist, Juliet Bawuah on his Qatar switch, his nationality decision, and many others.
“It was never financial switching to Qatar. We play Football firstly because we love Football and we want to take care of the people we want to take care of.
I wouldn’t say it was financially motivated because at the end of the day, I could have been playing for Ghana and still be earning much.”
On making his nationality decision again, Muntari said: ” Truth be told, I will choose Qatar. I will choose Qatar every single day because of what they did for me and what they are doing for my people.

The Qatar international did not left the Ghana Premier League out. ” For the league to improve, we have been crying for this since day one. We need sponsors and quality players in the league. I’m sorry to say it, but the pitches are not good enough.
For you to see a player’s quality, you would need proper pitches. I think the government, GFA and the Football people can actually do better and we know they can do better.”
Wa Suntaa Sporting Club have in match day 23 of the ongoing National Division One League beaten Wamanafo Mighty Royals at home by a goal to nil after Kofi Sarfo’s thirty-fifth (35th) minute strike.
This is the second consecutive win for the Wa based club this season after they won against Unity Football Club away from home in match day 22. This is their fifth win of the season.
The We Believe Boys will have to win their next match in order to move away completely from the relegation zone and have hope for survival in the league.

The Cameroonian and Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC striker keeps topping the various news headlines in Ghana and other parts of the world with his goal scoring ability.
The Cameroonian scored his seventeenth (17th) goal in the GPL this season in an away fixture against RTU in Tamale today, equalling Ghana’s Eric Bekoe’s 17 goal tally that won him the 2007/2008 GPL goal king award when he was playing for Kotoko.

This morning on Tungsung Sports with regular host, Dimbie Jamaldeen on Tungsung 97.3 FM, the chairman of the Upper West Juvenile Football, Abu Iddrisu Polibu, announced the commencement of the Upper West Juvenile U17 League.
Registrations and medicals have already taken place some few days back and all teams involved are getting ready and poised to kick start the second edition in this Kurt Okraku Administration.
This year’s league involved eight(8) teams. It will played in the form of all-play-all on one venue, Wa SHS Park. These teams are as follows:

The Upper West Regional Division Two League enters the last round of matches before the first half of the league comes to an end. A lot of heavy encounters are set to come off over the weekends and one of the games is Power Sporting Club vs Ziko Babies FC.
Wa Power Sporting Club will play host to Wa Ziko Babies FC this Saturday, April 9, at the Wa Dobile Presby Park. This game is much anticipated by funs from both teams and are eager to troob in their numbers to the park.
The UWRFA have cautioned both teams to have a fruitful game as both teams have had some problems against each other in the previous season.

The Rt. Honourable Speaker of Parliament at his residence this morning made a donation to one of the female football clubs in the Upper West Region.
The donation include set of jerseys, hoses, football boots, and other essential sporting items that will help elevate the club’s status in the region. He also added an undisclosed amount.
The Rt. speaker felt sorry for the state of football in the region and urged team owners and administrators to help unearth the pool of talented footballers in the region.
He did not end there. The third man of the state pledged to help the only division one league team in the region, Wa Suntaa Sporting Club to step up and go back to where it belongs to.

The Obuasi based club were on their home after a game they lost to Accra Hearts of Oak in Accra yesterday and were attacked by some unknown persons in Assin Endwa in the Ashanti Region.
No one is injured. Everyone is fine and are safe. The team is currently in Obuasi.
From the team’s Twitter handle: “We got attacked by armed robbers on our way back from Accra at Assin Endwa.
The robbers shot three bullets at the front bulletproof glass as the team driver meandered his way through a terrible scene of gunshots.
Thankfully, no individual sustained any injuries. The entire team is currently safe in Obuasi.”
Mohammed Yahaya a.k.a “The Beast”, of Tamale City added to his gaol tally today after helping his team secured vital three (3) points away from home against Brong Ahafo United.
This is the 14th goal he scored today, providing 4 assists in 18 games. He is a striker at his peak and is a hotcake for every club in the country at the moment. He is currently the highest goal scorer in the National Division One League.

Wa United FC this afternoon at the Sombo Pepsi Park thrashed Sombo Freedom Stars in their own backyard.
Sombo Freedom Stars striker, Isaac Benditey scored the opening goal before the equalizer from Tiraah Adams. After 15 minutes of play, Kaweel Abudu doubled for the Zebras and the third goal came from Francis Daayele.
This is the fourth straight win for the Zebras and they are seriously seeking to top their group and get slot for the Middle League.
The Black Stars of Ghana are set to meet the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the first time since 2011 in a FIFA World Cup playoff at the Baba Yara Stadium.
