Ghana recorded a 5-1 victory over reigning Asian Champions Qatar in a friendly at the Titanic Sports Stadium in Turkey on Monday afternoon. Four second goals aided the Black Stars of Ghana to redeem their image after a defeat to Mali ahead of next month’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers double-header against Sudan. The first department of the match looked balanced as both teams managed to go to recess with a goal. Almoez Ali came close to register the opener for the reigning Asian Champions on the 3rd minute but he was denied by the post. The Black Stars dominated possession in the mid of the first half which earned them the opener before the half-hour mark. Skipper Andre Ayew made an attempt of scoring on the 13th minute but his strike was saved by Saad Abdulla. Brentford FC striker Tariqe Fosu snatched the opener for the Black Stars on 22nd minute of the game which was his first-ever goal for the team The Qatari managed to level the score on the stroke of halftime through Almoez Ali which ended the first half in a one-all draw. Back from the break, Coach CK Akonnor’s side registered four goals to record his first victory as he started his journey as head coach. Two-goal hero Andre Ayew restored the lead for Ghana on the 63rd minute with a cool finish. Three minutes later, Saudi Arabia based Ghanaian winger Samuel Owusu made a solo run with a long pass from Thomas Partey to extend the lead for West African nation. On the 83rd minute, Ayew got his second goal of the day with a powerful header from a decent cross delivered by his brother Jordan Ayew. Substitute Caleb Ekuban sealed the Black Stars’ heavy win with his goal on the 87th minute after heading a cross from Samuel Owusu. Ghana will face North African nation, Sudan in a double-header fixture in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
